Campaign in Salou 2007
Watch a video of all of the activities of the campaign held in Salou
(Tarragona) in 2007
(in
Spanish).

The campaigns -- "Jornadas Internacionales de Convivencia", roughly translated as "International Gatherings of Living Together in Harmony"!
--
began 29 years ago (1981) with the desire to promote the values of and Christian brotherhood
among the evangelical churches of Spain and those of other countries of
Protestant tradition, within the Spanish context and culture, so that as a
result of the gathering, the participants widen their Christian training,
discover the historical and cultural roots of the place where the event is
celebrated and collaborate in the development of tolerance, Christian
values, and the promotion of the Bible.
Cities such as Salou (Tarragona), Onda (Castellón),
Aranda de Duero (Burgos), Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca), Úbeda (Jaén), Puebla
del Rio (Sevilla), Puertollano (Ciudad Real), Figueras (Gerona), Carballo
(La Coruña), Almería, Huesca, Palencia and many others, have been hosts of
these campaigns, which are celebrated taking advantage of
summer vacations, always in a different place, to give a wide vision of the
diversity of the Spanish culture.
The participants are mostly youth between 18 and 30
years old, members of evangelical churches. Each one covers his travel
and living costs, therefore we always try to reduce the costs to the minimum
to facilitate their participation. They come motivated by the desire
to make new friends and deepen their faith. The average attendance at
the campaigns is 50 people, although the largest group was more than 100 people,
in the year 1991, when it took place in Almería. Thirty-one
participants came to Palma del Río, mostly youth from all parts of Spain,
from Europe, and North America.
The evangelical Christian association "Decision" takes
responsibility for the coordination of these gatherings, in collaboration
with and by invitation of the evangelical church of the host city. The
association
"Decision" is a member of the Spanish Protestant Federation (FEREDE) and as
such, benefits from the Cooperative Agreements between the Spanish State and
the Protestant confession. |
